Tharamangalam is situated near to Salem. It is 27 kms away from Salem. There is one famous temple here named Kailasanathar Temple which is famous for beautiful statues, sculpture and stone carvings. The walls and roofs of the temples are carved with figures of monkey, fish and tortorise. Mettur Dam is a picnic spot which is 52 kms from Salem. It is the major water source which provides water to Trichy, Erode and Thanjavur Districts. There is a beautiful park opposite to this dam which has a nice lawn and different kinds of plants which attracts the children and adult visitors
